"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North. The film is narrated by an unborn child, and ancestors already dead also seem to be as present as the living.。主人公，为了报20年前的杀父之仇，在精心安排之下他救了金爷，金爷则是薛木秋杀父仇人的手下。于是借机潜伏在了金爷身边，为金爷做事，从而寻找报仇的机会。就此一场斗智斗勇的大戏展开，最后一个惊天动地的大秘密被揭露了出来......。
